A pallet furniture with shelves

After a long break, the blog is back on track now, with plenty of projects.

This is one made from shipping pallet to fit a specific space and without blocking an electric panel. It is used to put coffee mugs and food related items that are forbidden in a laboratory.

You'll notice that the door handles remind the lab, they are made of tubes with colored liquid inside!

We made this furniture in the lab, sanding and painting was not possible, so we decided to keep a rustic look.

The frame of the furniture was made using the pocket hole kreg jig:

I love this tool!

Upcycling naval mines.

Naval mines are probably the most unexpected upcyling you could think of.
This is made by an  Estonian artist named Mati Karmin who collects the mines left from world war II.

Kids kitchen set

This is an other great upcycling of furniture into kids play set shared by Rebekah and found on this great australian blog: Paint on the ceiling.
A stainless bowl becomes a sink, a coat hook is transformed into a tap and knobs are used for the tap or to control the hot plate. Upcycling at its best.

An other furniture upcycled into kids kitchen

Featured on the amazing before-after blog.

You probably remember a previous post featuring some night stands and TV furnitures. This is an other amazing transformation for an entertainment center into kids kitchen. The picture are not great but it gives you a pretty good idea of the great upcycling that has been done!

Upcycling furniture into kids toys

It's really amazing what you can do with a night stand or an old TV furniture! I'll think twice before trashing my own furniture now.

Plastic crates are upcyclable too!

I don't know if I would do this upcycling for myself, but I must admit that these sophisticated and sustainable milk crate furnitures look really stylish.
The ceiling light is also an interesting and colorful piece of art.

Ikea Hacks

Made by Gisbert Van Ginkel
Something I found few weeks ago that I wanted to share with you. There are people recycling/upcycling Ikea's products! They hack Ikea :-)
What a cool idea to gather all the projects in one website! The best project are gathered in the Ikea hack of the year !

These are my favorites, from stylish ideas to practical use:

I'd like to send my own Ikea Hack, but first, I'll have to convince my wife to let me play with our Lack coffee tables...

Starting my day with a great find!...

This morning, this is what I saw when I was going to work:

My day could not start better than that! I could only take 2 big ones and one little one. Now I'm thinking what will be my next project(s) after the pallet chair. Maybe a fancier chair with crazy lines? or maybe a bench?
I'm still thinking... but I'll post my next project very soon.

Also I saw benches made of salvaged wood or recycled pallet and I love the work. I wanted to do something with hairpin legs for a while, that might inspire me. It's from KOFFdesigns, and this is my favorites:

Recycling pallet into furnitures

This pieces of furniture made by artist Mark Dabelstein inspired me when I saw them; and like a lot of posts from this blog, I keep this as a project for later. At my work, I see a lot of pallet going to trash, and I will start collecting pieces to make one cabinet like this.

The trick to make such cabinet is the joinery, and today I will buy the Kreg jig for $39, this is a wonderful tool to create hole that will allow you to join two pieces of wood using screws, without having to be a professional woodworker. This is what I need.

The other tool needed would be a circular saw, wood glue and patience...
